A quick summary of my New Year:
- NYE 9pm: Against my better judgment, watched the Sydney harbour fireworks on channel 9. Adara watched for a few seconds and lost interest. Good girl. I went outside and listened to them for a little while - no direct line of sight from our backyard. Some upstairs flats in our neighbourhood would have had a good view.
- NYE 11pm: Went to bed. Made a conscious decision a few weeks ago not to see NY in this year. As an aside: I agree that NYE celebrations should go ahead as normal, but the minute's silence for the tsunami victims was appropriate as was the charity collections at the outdoor NYE vantage points. The world faces tragedy often, but we must carry on (as we did in Newcastle on NYE 1989/90).
- 12am 2004/05: Fast asleep. Di saw NY in talking to friends online, then went to Crammond Park down the road to watch fireworks. She is as opposed to fireworks as I am.
- NYD 9am: We started our 2005 with the Bay Walk around Iron Cove - Adara in pram, Di, Bartholomew and I walking. With stoppages took 2.5 hours all up for an 8km excursion.
- NYD 2pm: Friends over for ollebollen
- NYD evening: Exhausted. Watched Black Books Ep 3.3 on DVD, started watching the World Series of Polka, otherwise known as the Vienna New Years Concert 2005. In bed by 11.
Happy new year.
