With 2009 being the year I discovered Twitter, I began dabbling in tweet-size reviews from that year's Sydney Film Festival. Only 140 characters per tweet in those days, of course.
"The Cove" justified a blog post unto itself.
#sff "Looking For Eric": Incredibly funny, sad, violent. A Ken Loach comic fantasy? Yep. Unexpected gem, maybe best soccer film ever. 9/10

#sff "My Uncle Bluey": Moving 16 min short about director Britt Arthur's search for the truth about her own family. 8/10

#sff El Ovido (Oblivion): Heddy Honigmann's sad insightful documentary of the people of Lima, Peru. They sure hate President Garcia! 7/10

#sff "Wake In Fright" restored 1971 Aus masterpiece captures the claustrophobic, alcohol-fuelled white male outback brutally. 9/10

#sff "Che Part One" Surprisingly sterile account of Guevara's guerilla war in Cuba. Battle scenes look like backlots. Wheres the blood? 6/10

#sff "Che Part 2" Much better than pt1. Che brings agrarian revolution to Bolivian peasants. CIA spoils ending, so I won't. Gripping. 8/10
