It's possible. Dagenham and Redbridge FC could win the English Premier League in 2011. Likewise, the Liberal and National Parties coalition could win the Federal Election this Saturday night.
More likely, the Daggers won't make it out of League Two, and the Labor Party will win this weekend. Comfortably.
I'm finding it hard to maintain interest in this election, and I'm far from being the only one, I know that. Although I recorded both Howard's and Rudd's policy "launches" last week, I'm not going to watch them. They are irrelevant. And as "launches" they are nothing more than a rort.
I spent last weekend in Newcastle visiting my family, and it was noticeable (hell, unavoidable) on the local channels that there were Liberal Party ads on just about every commercial break. Specifically, ads for Bob Baldwin in Paterson. Yes, the marginal Liberal seat of Paterson. Never mind all those safe Labor seats in the viewing area.
There are things still worth saying about the election, even if the campaign is now a total bore. And that's why I'll keep droning on this week.
Dagenham and Redbridge (20th) are away to Macclesfield Town (14th) in the Football League Two this Saturday. And you can see here for more information on the otherwise-irrelevant reference in the title to the Level Six water restrictions that commence in south-east Queensland from Thursday.
