One of the best radio talk programs about sport is ABC Radio National's The Sports Factor, which goes to air every Friday and is live online on RN's audio webcast. For about a month now it has been podcast as well.
Last Friday's program was about "Sport and the National Psyche", in the context of England's two-run victory at Edgbaston, and its impact on the nation's morale in the wake of the terrorist outrages of July 7. The parallel is drawn with the playing of cricket at Lord's during World War Two, and the performance of Keith Miller. Among the people interviewed on the program is Roland Perry, who has just released a biography of Miller.
Transcripts, mp3 download links, the whole kit and kaboodle for this episode, plus the archives of what is, I believe, consistently the most intelligent sports program on English language radio, from The Sports Factor home page.
